Ready to reel in some serious action on the Alabama coast? Join me, Captain Rick, for a 4-hour inshore fishing adventure that'll have you hooked from start to finish. We'll cruise through Mobile Bay, where history meets world-class fishing, and you'll get to experience the best of what Gulf Shores has to offer. Whether you're a seasoned angler or it's your first time wetting a line, this trip is perfect for creating lasting memories on the water.
As soon as we push off from the dock, you'll feel the excitement building. We'll zip through Mobile Bay, where you'll spot dolphins playing in our wake and massive ships cruising by. Keep your eyes peeled for oil rigs in the distance – they're not just industrial marvels, they're also fish magnets! As we cruise, I'll point out the historic Fort Morgan, giving you a taste of the area's rich Civil War history. It's the same view those daring blockade runners had back in the day, only now we're after a different kind of treasure – some of the Gulf's most prized fish.
On this trip, we'll use a mix of techniques to target different species. We might start by drifting live bait near structure for Speckled Trout, then switch to sight casting for tailing Redfish in the shallows. If the Spanish Mackerel are running, we'll troll with small spoons or jigs to get them fired up. And for those looking for a real rush, we can set out some bigger baits and try our luck with Blacktip Sharks. I've been fishing these waters for over 50 years, so I know all the honey holes where the big ones like to hang out. We'll adjust our strategy based on the tides, weather, and what's biting that day to maximize your chances of a cooler full of keepers.
"I booked this trip because my husband is a "girl dad" who's always caught up in dance conventions and tennis with the girls and doesn't often get a chance to do "manly" things. When we arrived, I'm pretty sure Captain Rick saw us and thought, "Oh lawd, this might be tough!" But it turned out to be amazing! The girls were reeling in fish and absolutely loved Captain Rick! He was so patient and knowledgeable, guiding them through their very first ocean catches. Meanwhile, Captain Rick and my husband had plenty of "man talk" about boat gas, game wardens, and the Coast Guard. We had an absolute blast!" - Isabelle
"I asked Rick how long he's been fishing when we left the dock, and he said 50 years—his experience really shows. He's a true professional, and our 3 boys had an incredible time. Rick knew exactly where to go and which bait to use in each spot. We hooked multiple fish several times and had an amazing time. We had plenty of fish to cook for the rest of our trip and created memories we'll cherish forever. Thanks, Rick!" - Travis
"Captain Rick was fantastic! He got us on the fish and was incredibly accommodating to the 7-year-old we had with us. Even when I got sick, he took great care of me 😂😂😂. He was also a true gentleman with the two young ladies on board. I'd highly recommend him to anyone visiting Gulf Shores for a fun and memorable fishing experience!" - Jared
Redfish: These copper-colored bruisers are the pride of the Gulf Coast. Also known as Red Drum, they put up a fantastic fight and are a blast to catch on light tackle. Redfish love to cruise the shallows, often revealing their location with their trademark tail sticking out of the water. We target them year-round, but fall is prime time when they school up for their annual spawn. The "bull reds" can reach over 40 inches and will test your arms and your drag!
Spanish Mackerel: These speedsters are the perfect fish for anglers who love fast-paced action. They usually show up in our waters from spring through fall, following schools of baitfish. Spanish Mackerel are known for their blistering runs and acrobatic jumps when hooked. We often catch them by trolling or casting lures that mimic their favorite prey. Not only are they fun to catch, but they're also delicious on the grill – a true Gulf Shores delicacy.
Blacktip Shark: For those looking for an adrenaline rush, hooking into a Blacktip Shark is hard to beat. These powerful predators can reach sizes of 6 feet or more and will give you a workout you won't soon forget. We typically target them during the warmer months when they move into shallower waters. The initial run of a hooked Blacktip can strip 100 yards of line in seconds, often punctuated by spectacular leaps out of the water. It's catch-and-release for these bad boys, but the photo ops are priceless!
Look, I could go on all day about the fish we catch and the good times we have out there, but the truth is, you've got to experience it for yourself. This 4-hour trip is perfect for families, groups of friends, or anyone looking to sample the best inshore fishing Gulf Shores has to offer. We keep the group size small – just you and one other person – so you get plenty of personal attention and time with the rod in your hands.
And here's the kicker – at the end of the trip, I'll clean and package your catch for free. That means you can take your fresh-caught fish straight from the boat to the grill without any of the messy work. It doesn't get any fresher than that!
So what are you waiting for? The fish are biting, and I've got an empty spot on the boat with your name on it. Book your Gulf Shores fishing charter today, and let's make some waves and memories out on Mobile Bay. Trust me, once you fish with Alabama Girl Fishing, you'll be hooked for life!

This was our second time fishing with Captain Rick, and he didn’t disappoint! Within 5 minutes, both my wife and I had "fish on!" Two and a half hours later, we had our limit of keepers (plus plenty of fun catching and releasing undersized ones). Rick knows the bay like the back of his hand and will always get you on the fish. He’s a great guy—polite, helpful, and a pleasure to fish with. Highly recommend!

Blacktip sharks are an exciting catch for any angler. They average about 5 feet long but can reach up to 9 feet. You'll find them patrolling artificial reefs and hanging out in bays, often in water less than 100 feet deep. Summer's your best shot at hooking one. Folks love targeting blacktips for the thrill - they're known for their aggressive runs and even jumping out of the water. Plus, they're actually good eating if prepared right. To land one, you'll need heavy gear - at least 50-pound test line and stout circle hooks. Here's a local secret: chum the water with oily fish like mackerel or sardines. Once you've got their attention, use a live bait and be ready for a fight. Just remember, these are powerful fish, so always prioritize safety when handling them.
Redfish are a real favorite around here. You'll spot 'em by their reddish color and that trademark black spot near the tail. Most run 20-30 inches, but they can get much bigger offshore. Look for 'em in shallow water, often just 1-4 feet deep, hanging around oyster reefs and grassy areas. They love a muddy bottom. Spring and fall are prime times, but you can catch 'em year-round. Folks love targeting redfish for their strong fight and excellent taste. They'll hit just about any bait or lure, from live shrimp to topwater plugs. Here's a local tip: on a hot day, try sight-fishing the flats. You might see their backs sticking out of the water! Just approach quietly and drop your bait right in front of 'em. It's a blast watching them pounce on it.
Spanish mackerel are speedsters that'll give you a run for your money. They usually top out around 2 feet long and 8-11 pounds, but they make up for size with pure energy. Look for schools near the surface, often around structures in open water. They love warm water, so summer and early fall are your best bet. These fish are a blast to catch - they hit hard and fast, sometimes even jumping clear out of the water. Plus, they're delicious on the grill. To land one, try trolling with small, shiny lures like spoons or jigs. My go-to trick is to use a light leader - these guys have sharp teeth and can cut through heavier line. Match your retrieve speed to the fish's pace and hang on tight!
